The Local Initiatives Budget (BIL) is an envelope to support projects targeting employability development and the preparation and promotion of labour. It can also be used to support pilot projects related to major issues in the labour sector.

This year, 15 projects were submitted in the scope of this $415,000 envelope, which covers the entire territory of the Regroupement de l'Ouest. The ad hoc committee, made up of six members, in addition to labour development stakeholders, selected nine projects, for a total disbursement of $412,587. The budget will benefit 170 people and all will participate in activities related to socio-professional integration.
The projects accepted in Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce are  À la rencontre de la profession,  from the Centre de référence de la communauté russophone du Québec (CRCRQ); a labour market integration project from the Alliance pour l'accueil et l'intégration des immigrants (ALAC);  À l'action from Agence Ometz; a social integration and pre-employability project from the NDG Food Depot; and  Je m'intègre en français from Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi NDG (CJE NDG). The projects selected for the Saint-Laurent area are Espoir au féminin from the Centre d'encadrement pour jeunes-filles immigrantes (CEJFI); a project targeting employability development for young people who have dropped out of school from Ressources Jeunesse Saint-Laurent (RJSL); and Trouver une job ou créer ma job from the Espace Féminin Arabe. Cloverdale Multiressources' project, Ta place au travail, was selected for the West Island. All the projects start up on September 7. Good luck to all the participants.
