On March 24, the CDEC, in partnership with Emploi-Québec, hosted a breakfast meeting to discuss local hiring at the Marie-Léonie Paradis room at Saint-Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal.

This activity followed on the Outremont riding economic forum, organized last October 5, where local buying and hiring were discussed with more than 180 representatives from Côte-des-Neiges and Outremont at the invitation of Minister Raymond Bachand. The CDEC and Emploi-Québec wanted to take advantage of the synergy created during that event to build on local hiring in the community and increase the reach of its activities in the Côte-des-NeigesNotre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

The meeting provided 35 human resources managers and people responsible for employability organizations (including the regional director of Emploi-Québec, Ginette Sylvain), with the opportunity to learn about the CDEC and Emploi-Québec tools available to them to foster local employment, such as the Online Placement section of Emploi-Québec’s website and the new Embauche locale and Offres d’emploi sections on the CDEC site.

The CDEC’s new user-friendly Internet tool facilitates linkage between the labour needs of institutions and qualified job seekers. Moreover, employers can now post their job offers on the CDEC Internet site at www.cdeccdnndg.org by simply clicking the Employment Services tab, scrolling down to Offres d’emploi and choosing Proposer une offre d’emploi. They then fill out the form and they're ready to go.

Every day since it was launched on March 24, dozens of job seekers have been signing up for our Alerte emploi (employment alerts) to be informed by email when new job offers are posted online. Since then, frequentation of the Internet site of the CDEC has been growing exponentially. It’s clear that it responds to a need in the borough.
