On Saturday, September 10, the fourth edition of the NDG Eco-Fest took place under the sun in Paul-Doyon Park, at the intersection of Monkland and Girouard avenues.

The partners of the "I'm active in NDG" campaign were on hand with their stands, and participated in the draw for the nine winners of the contest to find the most popular businesses on Décarie Boulevard, Sherbrooke Street West and Monkland and Somerled avenues. We would like to thank the campaign partners: Lise Doyon, of the Caisse populaire Desjardins de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce; Marc Garneau, Westmount-Ville-Marie MP; Isabelle Morin, NDG-Lachine-Dorval MP; Susan Clarke, municipal councillor for Loyola; Peter McQueen, municipal councillor for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce; Nicole Schiebel, NDG Éco-quartier coordinator; Marie-Josée Mastromonaco, CSDM school commissioner for NDG; and Francine Dumont, chair of the CDN/NDG CDEC Board of Directors.
We also wish to congratulate the five businesses most frequently visited by contest participants: the Cooperative la Maison Verte at 5785 Sherbrooke West, in first place for the third consecutive year, with 269 votes; Maître Boucher at 5719 Monkland, which rose from fourth place last year to second place this year, with 245 votes; Fleur Sauvage natural foods store at 5561 Monkland, with 160 votes; Restaurant Montrose at 6550 Somerled, with 141 votes; Avenue Video at 5669 Monkland and Taloma Boutique Quartier at 6052 Monkland, tied at fifth place with 131 votes; and Boucherie Tranzo at 6536 Somerled, with 130 votes. The nine contest winners are Chantal Bigaouette, who won the Caisse populaire Desjardins de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Active Citizen Grand Prize, and Lynda Pitt-Taylor, Sharon Sutherland, Patricia Bastien, Brent Harris, Eric Gittens, Patricia Zebel, Cynthia Gregg and Dale Cooper.
The participants completed and returned 682 coupons, over twice as many as the year before. In addition, the residents and workers made close to 1800 commitments to buy locally and to use active and public transportation. Finally, we wish to thank the 285 merchants who participated in this awareness raising campaign. That's almost 100 businesses more than the year before! Many thanks to everyone, and see you next year!
