HISTORY AND RECENT CHANGES

First-line employment services (intake & evaluation, academic & vocational information, employment counselling, guidance, computer access & documentation center, placement) were offered at the CDEC from 1994 through 2003. Since 2003 these services have been restructured in accordance with our new agreement with Emploi-Québec.

Please take note that as of April 1 2005, no first line service to CDN/NDG residents in the area of employability is provided. Persons desiring information, services, or resources should contact the CLE CDN, 6655 Côte-des-Neiges, telephone (514) 872-6530.

The services available at the CDEC are :

• Development : coordination of the Table de concertation des organismes en employabilité (Employment Round Table) of CDN/NDG and collaboration with borough agencies around employment issues;

• Local Initiatives : support to community agencies in the development of short-term employment projects eligible for the BIL fund, as well as followup; and

• Group Workshop : the Skills Assessment Workshop, a one-week career objective exploration workshop offered to job searchers.

Additional information on these services is available in the pages that follow.

Contact persons are Jonathan McLelland (Development) and Nabila Ghernati (Local Initiatives, Group Workshop).
